The images I create represent the cultures that intrigue me, the people who fascinate me, and the places that call me to remember them over and over again. I hope, through my work, to convey what I have felt in my own travels -- the feeling of being in a new and unknown place that is nonetheless familiar.

There is magic in every place. We do not have to cross oceans to find beauty or mystery. We only have to believe they are as likely found in the simple as in the grand.

"What the world needs is not new art, but new eyes."
Marcel Proust

Because my work has a photographic quality, people sometimes assume -- incorrectly -- that my paintings are images captured by a camera and manipulated in Photoshop.

I call them "paintings" because, although there are no paints involved, the process doesn't differ much from using an easel, brushes, and palette. I use the computer screen as a canvas, the mouse as a pencil, and pixels as paint. The images above represent steps in the making of one of my digital paintings. First, I sketch the image with the mouse or a graphic pen. Then, I paint my drawing with color.

My Limited Edition images are printed with the CSI LightJet 5900, which uses high resolution RGB lasers to expose RA 4 photographic print materials and offers the highest resolution color output currently available. The finished prints are full of rich color and guaranteed to have no appreciable fading for at least 60 years.
